PE & Sports Funding
All young people should have the opportunity to live healthy and active lives
Here at St. Thomas of Canterbury, children are provided with a well-balanced Physical Education programme designed to inspire and encourage them to enjoy participation and gain personal success. It strives to motivate pupils to further develop their individual potential as well as create positive attitudes towards physical activity.
A positive experience of sport and physical activity at a young age can build a lifetime habit of participation and is central to St. Thomas' approach to PE & sports.
Children are encouraged to take up opportunities to participate in extra-curricular activities, of which there are many, and where possible, compete at levels that they have been striving towards through both their PE and their clubs.
From learning the discipline of following rules and regulations of specific sports to encouraging the free expression that aspects of physical education allows, St. Thomas of Canterbury is committed to promoting the opportunity as well as the need to be physically active.
The school subscribes to the values that sports promotes; independent challenge, teamwork and co-operation, the gaining of skill and technique, the building of self-esteem, the maintaining of healthy lifestyles and the concept of sportsmanship.
