Composing to Pictures
We would like to thank all the Year 6 students and members of the Music Club who took part in the Composing to Pictures project. The full video is now available via the link below:
COMPOSING TO PICTURES 2026
You can find the three St. Thomas’ pieces at 12:28, 16:53, and 19:25.
For anyone who may be unaware of the project, the children took part in an annual programme in collaboration with WMES and the New Art Gallery, designed to develop their imaginative composition and musical ability. As part of this, they visited the New Art Gallery (NAG) in Walsall, where they learned about selected artworks from an expert.
Following this, the children participated in a musical workshop led by a Walsall Music Education Service (WMES) educator, focusing on creating music inspired by art. They then worked in groups to compose their own pieces, drawing on the artworks they had studied. This provided an opportunity to experiment with different techniques, while also learning how music can be structured and developed.
Clubs
All extra-curricular club cycles have now ended. New clubs will be organised for the summer term.
Swimming
Year 2’s swimming lessons will now begin, and you should have received a letter with further information.
Year 3’s swimming lessons have now ended. The children will continue their lessons in Year 4.
4Z’s swimming lessons have now finished. Any Year 4 children who will continue swimming during the summer term will receive a letter.
